You could say it’s my “thing.”
The Purpose of Purpose!
Does your life have a purpose? YES!
My passion is purpose. Because I’ve spent years interviewing others, often that word is a central focus of most conversations. Just imagine…. if all who consider themselves Christians realized their giftedness, we would be some of the most infectious people on earth! We would have no trouble “winning the world” because we would be so busy being great at that which God entrusted to us.
Today’s culture says, “do it all.” But we know better, don’t we? We can’t do it all, have it all, and be it all. We must choose what we do and why we do it with a deep level of commitment that is rooted in self-confidence and faith.
How do you know your purpose?
What keeps you up a night? Most of us have hot button issues buried under an avalanche of topics that are not of interest. Your internal radar senses those topics that are important to you; homelessness, addiction, health, children, family, faith, equality, politics. Yours will be unique to you.
What keeps you distracted? For me, if it does not have to do with my faith, my family, key relationships, or my business, then I’m not likely to commit to it. Otherwise I’m making commitments to things that do not line up with my plan towards purpose. Say no often!
What keeps you focused? Discipline. If you are too busy, you know it. If you are doing too much, you know it. If you have said yes more than you’ve said no, you know it. Take a look at your calendar. Quit being guilted into doing things that have nothing to do with the path towards your purpose.
The purpose of purpose is that you pursue that purpose. Be confident of that which you are gifted to do. Take charge of the vision for your life.
As cliche as it may sound, only you can be you. Don’t compare yourself with others, spend time evaluating how you truly want to invest your time, and make your decisions fall in line with that pursuit.
The purpose of purpose? To clarify, not confuse. It’s up to us to pursue that which we were made for.
